FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™ AT ST. KITTS MUSIC FESTIVAL….St. Kitts has been making great music even before I started wearing diapers, and I feel that all of us nationals should be proud of where we are coming from and where we are today musically. There are some great calypso, soca and soul songs from the 70’s & 80’s for example, that are only heard on our local radio stations and we are encouraging the artists and managers to make these music available…
Local recording artists and bands will have another reason to love the St. Kitts Music Festival, this year, as they will now be able to sell their music to thousands of festival patrons.
Kittitian reggae artist and President of Pull Phactor Entertainment, Masud Sadiki, recently got the “green light” from the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee to implement his brain child dubbed the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™, at this year’s festival.
The ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™ was created to maximize on the music sales and promotion opportunities that are presented year after year, during the annual festival. This venture will offer a one -stop music shopping experience for visitors and nationals alike. There will be all genres of music produced by a wide range of local artists, available at the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™. Though it is called the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™, music from artists from the sister island Nevis will also be available. Additionally, all regional and international acts performing on this year’s festival will be afforded the opportunity to sell their music and even arrange autograph signing of their merchandise at the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™.
There will be two music shops at two separate locations. One shop will be located at the Independence Square in downtown Basseterre, and this will be open from 10am – 5pm daily for the duration of the festival. The other shop will be strategically located inside Warner Park at the festival venue, and will be open from 6pm until the concerts end nightly.
iLOVE SO iBUY St.KITTS MUSIC!, is the catchy and very important slogan for the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™. This is intended to be used by all local artists, nationals, fans and supporters of all St. Kitts music.
“St. Kitts has been making great music even before I started wearing diapers, and I feel that all of us nationals should be proud of where we are coming from and where we are today musically. There are some great calypso, soca and soul songs from the 70’s & 80’s for example, that are only heard on our local radio stations and we are encouraging the artists and managers to make these music available at the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™” said Masud. He also thanked Honourable Minister Richard Skerritt, Mr Faron Lawrence and the entire festival committee for their enthusiastic support for The ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™.
All local acts wishing to have their music sold at the ST. KITTS MUSIC MARKET™ should contact Masud at 869-662-9602 or send an email to masudsadiki@hotmail.com.

Wyclef Jean and Infamus perform together at the SKN Labour Party Super Rally – Haitian Artiste declares, Infamus’ songs need to be on BET’s 106 & Park!-
–Infamus Music is proud to report that Grammy award winning Haitian artiste Wyclef Jean has shown his support towards rising Kittitian star, Infamus. Wyclef Jean met Infamus when he was invited to be the headline act at the Labour Party Super Rally held at Warner Park (Jan. 16). The ‘911′ artiste during his astounding performance told thousands that he heard a song playing the previous night and liked it.
Just as the beat for „21 Gun Salute (We Miss You)‟ began playing the crowd reacted with a massive uproar as they were thrilled to see their very own being recognized by the megastar.
Infamus entered the stage letting the viewers know that he was there to represent! He performed his two hit singles and did a spur-of-the-moment performance with Wyclef Jean for „Feel like Crying‟.
“I like your songs,” Jean declared. “Them tunes need to be on 106 & Park, We gotta work on that. I got to go back and talk to them people and tell them I saw something tonight.”
Jean‟s statement followed with an eruption of cheers once more from the massive crowd and both artistes continued performing together with freestyles and an on the spot remix for Jean‟s hit ‘Sweetest Girl‟.
This collaborative performance came about after a member of Jean’s band along with his manager made contact with Infamus the night previous to their performance (Jan. 15).
According to Infamus‟ Manager Diego Spanner, Jean‟s manager was amazed at the crowd‟s reaction when the DJ played ‘Feel Like Crying’ during his set. They then observed a young boy singing the song as if he knew every word.
“He then asked the little boy what was the name of the artiste, because it appeared to them as if it was an international song as everyone was into it,” he said. “The boy then corrected their initial assumption by boldly stating, “He’s from right here! His name is Infamus!”
When Jean’s manager managed to get in contact with Infamus later that evening he expressed his liking for the music and thought it would be good to have him perform with Wyclef Jean.
Upon Jean’s arrival to the island the following day, Infamus was thrilled to receive a follow up phone call from the international star, which confirmed the collaborative performance.
Jean‟s team also highlighted their anxiety to have the young artiste record in there state of the art studio back in New York along with the possibilities of being contracted to Yclef Records. Yclef Records is a record label owned by Jean and their aim is to showcase talents from all hidden corners of the world.
Performing live on stage with Wyclef Jean has been the greatest experience in the career of this young artiste, who possess a unique singing style he expresses as “Life & Times”.
The artiste will be hosting his Birthday Bash scheduled to be held on February 20, 2010. More details on the Birthday Bash will be announced in the coming weeks as he is also planning to release a music video for his new single ‘Gonna Make It’.

Berriscia Byron wins her 5th crown
I give thanks to the Lord for serving as my guiding light through it all. Preparing for a pageant of this caliber is never easy and so keeping God first is vital in ensuring success.
On December 30th, 2009- I represented our nation in the 30th annual Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant and was named co-winner. For a brief moment during the coronation, I was mystified as a double winner seemed unique, yet historic, however, I soon became ecstatic for I had done my best to make my country shine and very importantly St. Kitts had been again awarded the top spot. Throughout the preparatory stages, I was always cognizant of our motto: “Country above self.” The experience was one of excitement, hard work, tears and commitment. My success would not have been possible had it not been for the selflessness of several kindhearted individuals who diligently rendered their assistance to ensure that St. Kitts was well represented.
I give thanks to the Lord for serving as my guiding light through it all. Preparing for a pageant of this caliber is never easy and so keeping God first is vital in ensuring success. I am grateful to my mother, Sandra Roberts, my father, Berrisford Byron and my step-father, Raphael Hendricks for their continued and unwavering support. Sincerest gratitude is extended to my hard-working chaperone duo – Ozelle Martin and Iantavian Queeley – . Thank you for pushing me through it all especially the times when I had to experience tough love. I will always remember your words: “Pain is Gain!” and “Success does not come without hard work.” We all worked hard and we were rewarded. A special thank you to Julie Martin and Heidi Slack whose advice proved invaluable, also Genieve Hanley, Sandra Wallace and Vanessa Pinard for their assistance.
I am also thankful for the help from Trent Sargeant of Burn It, Melbourne of St. Vincent, GQ of WinnFM and Val Henry of VH Communications. A hearty thank you goes out to the National Carnival Committee for their sponsorship which enabled me to be fully prepared for this pageant. All of the members of the Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Organizing Committee should be congratulated for continuing to showcase Caribbean teenage talent on a yearly basis.
Thank you to all my supportive relatives, friends and fans. Your kind and positive words encouraged me and made me more determined to capture my fifth crown, a feat which I knew to be achievable. I know I will enjoy my reign as the Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Queen 2009 – 2010 and eagerly look forward to carrying on this wonderful tradition.
Happy New Year and God bless you all.

Well you are certainly no stranger to me nor are you a stranger to Positively Inclined’s regulars. I am speaking with Raphael Rodney better known as Phonse. Congratulations on your recent Graduation.
Thanks PI, appreciate it.
We are very happy to hear from you and especially about your latest endeavour. Tell us a little about it.
I am quite delighted that you are. In an effort to maintain the supply of the patriotic T-Shirt sales that we originally started in 2006 we recently launched an online store (www.epiphanyvibes.com) and with the official brand name for the clothing line. The famous “I Love (heart) SK” slogan tee shirt as I’ve mentioned in previous interviews, was just a movement per se and not an actual clothing line. However, recently my team and I went to the drawing board and discussed the possibilities of maintaining the distribution of tees along the same line, and after a lengthy process I emerged with the brand name …Epiphany … Epiphany means a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something. I took this meaning and attached it to the fact that no matter where we are, where we go, and what we do, certain values and norms are always with us and if we only took the time we would suddenly realize that it’s simply our CULTURE. Isn’t that an Epiphany for you?
It certainly has me thinking. How difficult has it been for you starting this while studying overseas?
It wasn’t easy; I now work full time, go to school full time and still try to manage my own little business. Getting started was tough, it took sacrifice and dedication, sleepless nights and even stress. I must say however, that all this is not doings of my own and would not be possible without the help of supporters, friends and business colleagues and most importantly the customers.
How has the reception been so far?
So far the website has been getting escalating views and sales. It was a soft launch, nothing major, we intend to promote the site on a heavier scale with time.
Of all the styles what do you find persons have gravitated to mostly?
I think people have gravitated towards their own if u ask me…In recent years there has always been a wave in some particular item or style, “in style”. Now I feel people are more into creating their own, more confident in “rocking their own identity”. Color fusion, mismatching, just their own unique put together.
How important has it been to incorporate aspects of our society into the designs? In Cane Juice you alluded to the Sugar Crop and through Epiphany you talk about a divine manifestation of culture.
Our speech, the scenes, the slang, the monuments, just the surroundings and more all play an integral part in being incorporated into designs. They appeal more and attract the buyer to something that they can relate too, one way or another. If you grew up in St. Kitts, you MUST have gotten the sugar, the cane, or the juice. Likewise if St. Kitts is your roots you must have something unique that you can identify a picture, slang, a song, a drawing. Epiphany and Cane Juice both try to drive home that significance the clothing.
Where do you see this leading to in future – financially, socially, otherwise?
I always vision optimistically and realistically. I imagine success.
What’s next?
Sky’s the limit, you will interview me again. Lol.
What do you say for persons who may have an interest in pursuing like endeavors from an entrepreneurial perspective?
Have guts to take the risk and be self motivated and confident.
This time last year when Cane Juice lauched our review read something like this:
“On Friday 19th December, 2008, Sugars was flooded with Cane Juice as the launch of the clothing line “Cane Juice” took place…”
When “Cane Juice” hit the stage, it did so with a bang as the audience was treated to the “Cane Juice Anthem…”
“Cheers and applause followed as the models appeared wearing urban style designer ladies’ cotton blouses adorned with the brand name across the front…. “
“…It was a great display of fresh, new, local talent …”
What will we have to say this year as they preview their 2010 collection? Go to Traffic Lights | Cane Juice One Year Anniversary to find out.
